INFERENCE [2017]

The pavilion design for Alexanderplatz, located in Berlin, was inspired by the harsh nature of the surrounding buildings. The location’s history is what makes the square so pertinent. The shape of the pavilion is based loosely on the trajectories taken by the users of the square. The paths focus the public’s attention towards the idea of meandering, while simultaneously acting as rigid paths. The sides of the elevated pathways are made of corten steel. The change in ground levels allows the users to, at moments,  experience incremental views of the streets and observe the routes of fellow users, from higher planes. The structure forces ever-changing viewpoints for the users and allows for periods of full immersion.
