The concept of this project was rooted in the prevalent arts culture present in Kitchener. Due to this sites’ direct proximity to the city hall, it was vital for the community to infill this space with a program that would benefit the city of Kitchener in a variety of ways. The three critical issues that I decided to tackle with this programming was arts, mental health, and access to nature. Since Kitchener already contains a plethora of art centres, this project intended to have the community engage in the support of mental health, through the lens of a common thread. The main features of the design include elements that prove to be psychologically harmonious, most notably, the rounded corners, circular stained glass skylights and direct access to a back garden.
